LK SAMYANG Expands Prima Series with New AF 16mm F2.8 P FE and AF 85mm F1.8 P FE Lenses Completing the Prima Trio for Hybrid Content Creators 15 July 2025 (Tuesday) – LK Samyang, a global leader in optical technology, is pleased to announce the introduction of two new lenses in the Prima Series, tailored for hybrid content creators and photography enthusiasts: the AF 16mm F2.8 P FE and the AF 85mm F1.8 P FE. The release of these lenses expands the Prima Series, which is recognized for its exceptional optical performance and portability.
Following the earlier release of the AF 35mm F1.4 P FE in 2024, these latest lenses complete the Prima Series trio, which now covers a range of focal lengths: wide (16mm), standard (35mm), and medium-telephoto (85mm), catering to a diverse creative requirements of users in the field.

The Prima Series aims to be your “first lens,” the one you will frequently reach for. It features a compact and lightweight design without sacrificing optical quality, making it perfect for hybrid creators and beginners.
AF 16mm F2.8 P FE : A compact and lightweight wide prime lens with an F2.8 aperture, optimized for vlogging and landscape photography. AF 35mm F1.4 P FE : A versatile all-purpose lens, this option is particularly suitable for everyday and travel photography, capturing a wide range of subjects. Beyond Lightweight A lens that effectively integrates durability with a minimalist design. Both lenses are characterized by a compact format that excludes the conventional red ring. They are constructed from LK Samyang’s proprietary high-strength engineering plastic, achieving a lightweight yet sturdy construction that feels premium.
Additionally, the newly designed focus ring showcases enhanced patterns and textures, thereby improving user experience and handling efficiency.
AF 16mm F2.8 P FE — Compact Wide Lens for Everyday Versatility Measuring 70.5mm in length and weighing 207g, this lightweight lens offers exceptional portability and practicality. Its expansive 16mm field of view, coupled with a minimum focusing distance of 0.12m and a semi-macro capability of 0.33x, facilitates a wide range of shooting scenarios, including travel, landscapes, street photography, and close-up shots. When mounted on APS-C cameras, this lens provides an equivalent field of view of 24mm and approximately 0.5x macro magnification, further expanding your creative possibilities.
AF 85mm F1.8 P FE — Lightweight Medium Telephoto Optimized for Portraiture The AF 85mm F1.8 P FE lens is distinguished by its bright F1.8 aperture and compact design. It weighs only 272 grams and measures 71.5 mm, making it the lightest lens in its category according to internal research conducted by LK Samyang as of July 15, 2025.
The lens features an optical design that includes three Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) elements and a 9-blade rounded aperture. These components deliver exceptional resolution, especially at portrait distances, while also producing a smooth, creamy bokeh. Additionally, the seamless transition between focused elements and the background adds emotional depth to each image, creating an immersive visual experience.
LK Samyang representatives stated, “The Prima Series is designed to be the primary and most frequently used lens for creators. These new lenses offer exceptional portability, durability, and optical performance, making them essential companions for both everyday shooting and creative projects.”
The AF 16mm F2.8 P FE and AF 85mm F1.8 P FE will be available starting July 15, 2025, through major online and offline retail channels worldwide. A variety of marketing programs and user trials will accompany the launch.
